Ipswich: A father in Ipswich was so angry having caught his children bullying a boy who wore glasses, he marched them off to the police station to have them charged for assault.

The father, known only as Matt, told a Brisbane radio station he saw his 17-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter bashing up a 13-year-old boy, breaking his jaw, because he wore glasses, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

He told the radio station that he experienced similar bullying as a child because he wore glasses.

As further punishment, Matt sold his son's car and his daughter’s horse, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

"Yesterday afternoon I'm on my way home and came round the corner three streets from home and there's my 17-year-old son and my 15-year-old daughter and they are fair beating the living crap out of this kid," the SMH quoted him as telling the radio station.

"I pulled up, I damaged the car as I put the car up the gutter. I grabbed a hold of both of them, threw them in the back of the car, got the young kid that they were beating up... took him home to his parents and marched both my kids into the local police station.

"They have both now been charged with assault."

The pair is due to face court next month. The father revealed his story as part of an anti-bullying awareness week.

He also showed his children his old school photos to press the gravity of the issue. Matt said he and his wife would stand behind the parents of the bullied child if they pressed charges.

He said his children wanted the money from the sale of the car and the horse to go to the victim. His daughter had also written a letter apologising to the victim.
