Five excise personnel transferred

PALAKKAD: Five personnel of the Excise Department, who were members of the task force under the Parli Excise Range, have been transferred to the Agali Range until the completion of a detailed inquiry into an accusation of bribe. The transferred are preventive officer N Ramachandran, guards Mansoor Ali, Faizul Rehman, Anand and driver Anil Kumar. The action by Assistant Excise Commissioner K R Jayan follows a complaint that the Excise personnel demanded bribe from a person who had transported undeclared electronic goods through the Walayar check post.Circle Inspector Sulesh Kumar, who had conducted a preliminary inquiry, had submitted a report stating that the personnel be transferred till the completion of the detailed inquiry. Sulesh Kumar recommended the transfer since the petitioner had not come forward to depose before the inquiry panel.
