T Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday inaugurated several newly constructed police stations and the camp office of Deputy Superintendent of Police of Katpadi in Vellore district via video conference from Chennai.
She opened new buildings for the police stations in Tirupattur Town, Virunjipuram, Natrampalli and Vellore Taluk, and an All Women Police Station (AWPS) in Arakkonam and the new camp office of Katpadi DSP, said Vellore Superintendent of Police I Eswaran.
He added that the new buildings to house the police stations and the DSP camp office were constructed at a total cost of `2.19 crore by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation.
The newly constructed two-storey police station in Tirupattur Town has conference call facilities, a waiting room for public, cells for women and men and separate rooms for Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors and writers. It also has a computer room.
