New Delhi: Yet another former Supreme Court judge has been named in a sexual harassment case. After justice AK Ganguly's case got highlighted in the media, another law intern alleged that she was sexually harassed by a former Supreme Court judge.
In her complaint, the law intern has mentioned that the judge behaved in a manner which was extremely sexual in nature. "He put his hand on my lower back. He asked me if I was comfortable traveling and staying in hotels," the complaint read.
The complainant had interned with him between May and June 2011.
Speaking on the latest sexual harassment case, Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising said, "It is a matter of sexual harassment at work place. The intern has spoken for herself and her affidavit is with the SC. It was sometimes in 2011 in May. If the SC investigates into it will have a positive impact in society. SC is quite serious about such cases and so is media."
The complainant is a former student of the National University of Juridical Sciences in Kolkata and filed a formal complaint in December 2013. The intern reportedly was disturbed and upset with the behaviour of the judge and left the internship mid-way.
Human Rights lawyer Vrinda Grover while reacting to the incident said, "The complaint against the former SC judge should now be inquired into."
