RAMANATHAPURAM: The Rameswaram temple administration has taken stringent action against four security persons for violating temple norms at the Rameswaram temple recently.Two of the security personnel had allegedly attempted to take photos of tourists near Koditheertham. Based on a report, Rajamanickam, Joint Commissioner for Lord Ramanatha Swamy Temple Devasthanam, issued an order to remove them from the service.It is the temple norm that security personnel do not carry cell phones or cameras while on duty.Rajamanickam , temple told Express, “Security personnel were strictly warned not to possess cell phones during duty hours. Two of them were found to be carrying cell phones and were dismissed.” However, there was no complaint against them taking photos of pilgrims, he added. The temple administration has engaged 38 private security personnel to control the crowd. Two other security personnel were dismissed for attacking each other over a personal issue. The temple has 16 CCTVs installed at vantage points to monitor the movement of people. To help conduct surveillance during nights, the administration has decided to install two high mast lights on the roof of the temple.
