New Delhi: Sonam Nair's debut directorial venture 'Gippi' is all set to hit the screens on May 10. Riya Vij is playing the character of Gippi while Divya Dutta will be seen as Gippi's mother Pappi.
Divya describes her role, "Hindi films limit the roles to good or bad or sweet but in my opinion a character has many more aspects. The facets of a character change as per the situation. This time I am playing a role which is very close to my own mother, I saw myself in Gippi. I am just going back a few years this time. 'Gippi' is about the beautiful relationship between a mother and a daughter who are there for each other."
She further says, "Pappi is a single mother but she has brought up her daughter in the best possible manner, she is more than a typical mother. They fight, do pillow fights, dance together. Every family should have such bonding because we are taking ourselves very seriously and in the process losing the moments of happiness."
Over the years, Divya Dutta has emerged as a versatile actor. "I am an actor who works from heart and I don't take much time to decide whether to do a film or not. Be it 'Heroine' or 'Gippi' or 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', films have brought different roles to me. I am glad to be one of those rare actors who get the chance to experiment with her looks so frequently."
Taaha Shah is also playing a pivotal role in 'Gippi'. He says, "I am playing Arjun, Gippi's love interest, in the film. He is a very reserved kind of person who has been in the school since long. Everybody looks up to him for suggestions. Gippi thinks Arjun as a prize boyfriend."
His character has a Salman connection in the film, "My attire in the film has been inspired by Salman Khan's clothing in 'Maine Pyar Kiya'. I related to the character because I was like Arjun only when I was in college in Dubai."
Taaha also elaborates the message of 'Gippi', "The message of the film is love yourself and be comfortable in your own skin."
