BANGALORE: Owing to diminishing moral and ethical values among youth, Gandhi Peace Foundation, Karnataka, will embark on an awareness campaign to instill Gandhian values by distributing nearly one lakh books to students. These books, published by the Foundation, will have biographical details of Mahatma Gandhi. There is need to take Mahatma’s words to the youth. It is unfortunate that youngsters are losing touch of the values, principles and morals that were supported by Gandhi. This is an attempt to bring the youth closer to Mahatma,” said S V Srinivasa Moorthy, president, Lahari Advocates Forum and member of the Gandhi Peace Foundation. He added that the literature for these books was currently being prepared. “Several sponsors have come forward to help us. These books will be pocket-sized books containing valuable messages of Gandhi,” said Moorthy. Gandhi Study Centres in CollegesThe Foundation is also looking at setting up Gandhi study centres at all colleges in the city. “These study centres are not clubs. It aims to create awareness about Gandhian values. These centres will have regular activities which will keep the native traditions of Gandhi alive,” said Moorthy.
