BHUBANESWAR:: Members of the All Orissa Students' Union of the Visually Impaired on Tuesday staged an agitation here demanding an inquiry into alleged fake affidavit and fraudulent advertisements published by the School and Mass Education Department for recruitment of blind youths as Siksha Sahayaks.
In August, the Department had brought out advertisements for engagement of visuallychallenged persons as science teachers. As many as 131 posts were advertised that required an eligibility of ISc, CT (Plus Two Science with Certified Training) or BSc (Plus Three Science) with BEd. "Due to lack of facilities in colleges for science education, visuallyimpaired students are unable to pursue science from Plus Two level. These advertisements, therefore, do not make any sense," reasoned Lekha Ram Bhoi, secretary of the Union. It demanded that the eligibility be made BA, BEd or IA, CT.
