BANGALORE: The Congress has demanded that the state government to release `100 crore for drought mitigation besides urging Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to urge the district in-charge ministers to assess the situation emergently.Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwar on Monday alleged that the government had failed in mitigating drought.“Nearly three-fourths of the state is reeling under the drought, but the government has failed to release adequate funds for relief works,” he said.He alleged that there was total administrative failure in Karnataka because of the “political instability” due to the continued infighting within the BJP.Parameshwar urged the CM to seek more Central assistance besides speeding up review and relief works.“Merely sitting and blaming the Centre doesn’t help. They (the state government) should approach the Union government for more funds,” the KPCC president added.
