CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Thursday lauded the performance of J Jayalalithaa’s government in the State. His applause was loud and clear in his Republic Day address which was aired by All India Radio and broadcasted by Doordarshan. “The new government, within eight months, has succeeded in launching several schemes for the benefit of the weaker sections of the people.The people’s government has set new trends inthe State. The administrative promptness, quick identification of problems, pragmatic approach and swift action in providing relief measures after cyclone Thane deserve special mention,” he said.Expressing faith over the government’s future performance, Rosaiah said that it would stand up to the expectations of the people and would lead the State in all spheres.Distribution of fans, mixies and grinders, providing milch cows and goats or sheep at no cost to rural poor families also came in for the Governor’s praise.Rosaiah further said that the creation of a self-sustainable industrial corridor on the Madurai - Thoothukudi Highway, would bring about development in Southern districts.“Tamil Nadu, being a conducive a state for foreign investments, has taken the lead in attracting investors from Korea, Japan and Thailand to start new ventures in Tamil Nadu. I am confident that the recent Memorandum of Understanding with the Japanese External Trade Organisation will open new vistas for upcoming entrepreneurs,” Rosaiah opined.
