BANGALORE: Assuring bureaucrats that their hard work will not go unnoticed, newly elected Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda solicited their cooperation in providing good governance and implementing the pro-people schemes announced by his predecessor B S Yeddyurappa.Addressing the principal secretaries and secretaries of various departments at an introductory meeting, Gowda appealed to the officials to devote more time to deliver good governance and ensure that benefits of state schemes reach their targeted beneficiaries. "I expect your full cooperation and commitment in this endeavour of mine," Gowda said.He urged the officials to simplify various rules and regulations which come in the way of implementation of state sponsored programmes and schemes.The new CM instructed them to constitute a committee for the purpose and submit reports to the Chief Secretary in a month.Urging them to prioritise clearing files and memoranda received from public within 15 days of receipt, the chief minister said that this system should be implemented at all levels of administration."This will send a positive signal to the general public on the functioning of the new government," the chief minister said.Gowda likened the bureaucracy and political leadership to the two wheels of a chariot."The chariot can move smoothly forward only when there is mutual trust and harmony between the two," he said.Opining that the better implementation of various programmes, schemes, plans and projects taken up by the previous governments headed by B S Yeddyurappa should be the main focus Gowda however said that new programmes can also be taken when there is absolute necessary.Informing that he dreams of building a strong and empowered state, Gowda said that the BJP Party will take immediate steps to fulfil its promise of building a prosperous Karnataka."We have the responsibility of implementing ongoing programmes and policies started by the Yeddyurappa-led government," the chief minister said.He outlined community welfare, maintaining law and order, provision of drinking water, proper roads, health services, education, power and sanitation as the areas of priority for the government led by him in the state.
