New Delhi: A sequel to 2004 film 'Masti', 'Grand Masti' is a multi-starrer comedy featuring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead. The film has been directed by Indra Kumar and has been presented by Bharat Shah.
"The film has been made in a budget of Rs 35 crore and more than 2000 screens have been allocated for the film," Shah told IANS.
Aftab Shivdasani is hopeful that 'Grand Masti' will do well, and he believes it could open doors for more adult comedies.
"It's in a different space and genre - the adult genre. Not many films are made in that space. I think people want these kind of films. If it manages to entertain them and the audiences like it then sky is the limit... you never know what will happen," the 35-year-old said.
Aftab is even surprised with the response to the uncensored trailer of 'Grand Masti'.
"I'm quite overwhelmed. I am happy with the way the uncensored promo of the film was received by the audience and I am shocked to see how excited people are about the promo," he said.
'Grand Masti' also features Sonalee Kulkarni, Maryam Zakaria, Manjari Phadnis, Bruna Abdullah, Kainaat Arora and Karishma Tanna.
Marathi actress Sonalee Kulkarni, who has been paired with Riteish Deshmukh in 'Grand Masti', marvels at her co-actor's sense of humour and says it was not easy for her to match his comic timing.
In 'Grand Masti', Sonalee will be seen as Riteish's wife. The fun film marks Sonalee's Bollywood debut.
"Riteish is one of the finest actors in Bollywood. He has got an amazing sense of humour and amazing comic timing. I enjoyed a lot working with him. He brings about humour in everything that he says," said Sonalee.
"Comedy is all about timing, so to match the comic timing with him was a great challenge to me," she added.
Sonalee also got a lot of guidance from Riteish.
"He gave me a lot of tips. He had seen my work in Marathi films and appreciated my work. So on that Marathi connect he used to guide me a lot ... from my looks to my scenes. He is very supporting," said Sonali.
Riteish ventured into the Marathi film industry with his debut production venture 'Balak Palak'.
However, the box-office journey of 'Grand Masti' is not going to be easy because it will have to face stiff opposition from 'John Day' and 'Horror Story'. However, films such as 'Kya Kool Hai Hum' and 'Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum' have been appreciated by the audience in the recent times, so there is always a chance of 'Grand Masti' clicking with the viewers.
