KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday issued notice to Harrisons Malayalam Ltd on a petition filed by the State Government in connection with 59,693.997 acres of land owned by the company in the state.A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice C N Ramachandran Nair and Justice P S Gopinathan issued notices while admitting a petition filed by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department.Appearing for the state, Special Government Pleader advocate Susheela R Bhatt submitted that the company was not entitled to file a declaration statement before the Taluk land board as per the Kerala Land Reforms (KLR) Act and that entire proceedings initiated with respect to the 59,693.997 acres of land are void.As per the KLR Act, only a citizen born in India or a company incorporated in India is entitled to file ceiling returns. So, the actions initiated by the company are in gross violation of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, the state submitted.
