VELLORE: The Vellore unit of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) has taken the initiative to organise special health screening camps for children in the age group of 2 to 5 years, attached to anganwadis in the district. The first camp was inaugurated by collector Ajay Yadav at Kagithapattarai in Vellore city on Thursday. He said the camps would be conducted in all anganwadis in the district.S Bakiyarajan, district project officer of the ICDS, said there were 2,992 anganwadis in the district, housing some 65,000 children and 101 anganwadis with 2,000 children were in the Vellore corporation limits. .A team of doctors led by Dr Kurian George, HoD of community medicine department, screened the children for specific ailments. Vellore Mayor P Karithiyayini and others attended.
