PUDUCHERRY: Principal District and Sessions Judge C S Murugan posted the hearing on a petition requesting re-examination of Padma, wife of Sankararaman, and her son for Wednesday. The judge ordered Padma and her son Anand Sharma, who were not present in the court on Tuesday, to be present without fail on Wednesday. Padma had filed the petition last week requesting the court to re-examine her and her family members on grounds that she had been allegedly threatened on the court premises on August 6, 2009, when she came to depose in the case. The family had also sought for police protection.Special Public Prosecutor N Devadoss told reporters later that all the 24 accused had filed their counters to Padma’s petition, some of them endorsing and some filing separately. The prosecution had already filed their counters, he added. The court would take up the petition for consideration on Wednesday, he said. Twelve accused were present in the court on Tuesday and Kanchi acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijendra Saraswathi, who are the main accused in the Sankararaman murder case, were exempted from personal appearance.
