In a move aimed at enhancing transparency and public safety, the Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday, September 25, ordered that names and addresses of operators, proprietors, and managers must be displayed at all food establishments across the state.
It comes after the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday passed a similar order directing the food outlets to display the name of their owners in an apparent bid to prevent alleged incidents of mixing of urine in fruit juices and spitting on ‘roti’ (chapati) in different parts of the state.
Congress leader and minister Vikramaditya Singh announced the development through a Facebook post where he mentioned that an order related to the mandatory display of outlet owner’s details had been issued during a joint meeting with the Public Works Urban Development and Municipal Corporation.
“In Himachal, every restaurant and fast food outlet will be required to display the owner’s ID to ensure that people face no difficulties. Instructions for this have been issued in the Urban Development and Municipal Corporation meeting held yesterday,” Singh wrote in a Facebook post.
