Hyderabad: The 11th Metropolis World Congress-2014, featuring about 2,000 delegates from 100 metropolitan cities from around the world, will be held Hyderabad in April 2014, said an official statement on Saturday night.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy approved the file relating to the hosting of the Congress, a triennial event, which is expected to promote the brand image of Hyderabad and facilitate exchange of cultural tourism.
The 10th metropolitan world congress was held in 2011 at Porte Alegre, Brazil.
The earlier editions were held in Sydney, Berlin, Seoul and other international cities.
Hyderabad had hosted COP-11, the global biodiversity meet of the United Nations in 2012. The World Agricultural Conference is scheduled to be held in December 2013.
