New Delhi: He is one of the few actors to have made a transition from small screen to cinema but Rajeev Khandelwal, who made his Bollywood debut with 'Aamir', says he does not believe in knocking doors for a role.
"I have not knocked on anyone's door for a role. I have not asked big names like Yash Chopra for a role. I want to do films with people who are honest and passionate about their craft. For me a film is not a business proposition," Rajeev told PTI.
The actor, who played a common man struggling against terrorism in 'Aamir' and an inspector in 'Shaitan', says he wants to do films which push him beyond his comfort zone.
"I like to do films that push my boundaries. A film like 'Aamir' is still remembered by the audience because it was different although it was a small budget film. One thing that I have realised is that budgets don't decide the quality of films," he said.
Rajeev also said that he does not do anything consciously and when it comes to choosing a film, he prefers to go by his instincts.
"I do not do anything consciously. Other than my fitness, I don't take care of anything in my life. I go by instincts, I go with the flow."
Rajeev will be next seen opposite and Soha Ali Khan in Neeraj Ghosh's 'Soundtrack' where he plays a deaf DJ.
"My next film 'Soundtrack' is an interesting film that raises the bar for other films," he said.
'Soundtrack' is the remake of the award-winning cult film 'It's All Gone Pete Tong'. It is about DJ Raunak Kaul, who creates musical empire. Along with success he gets addicted to drugs and alcohol and loses hearing ability. The film will hit the theatres on October 7.
Rajeev, who made his acting debut with Ekta Kapoor's soap 'Kahin To Hoga', is returning to the TV as the face of National Geographic Channel's new show 'Supercars'.
"I am not a car person. I chose to do the show as I was kicked about being the face of such iconic beauties, like Lamborghini, Porsche, the Audi, the Rolls-Royce Phantom and other super cars. My guy friends evny me for being so close to these beauties," he said.
The show will premiere on October 10.
