CHENNAI: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is looking to woo more students by revamping its infrastructure. Chairman of the Southern India Regional Council, B Ravi, said that the centre has improved its infrastructure to make the course more interesting for the students. "We have added more facilities and titles to our library so that the students can access more information. The class rooms have also been air-conditioned and projectors have been installed to make the classes more interactive." The basic structure of the course has not been altered, but more seminars and lectures have been introduced throughout the length of the course.As of this year, more than one lakh aspirants from all over the country attempt the three  different stages of the course conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). The ICSI is a national professional body which has been set up by an Act of Parliament and regulates the profession of Company Secretaries. With four regional councils and headquarters at New Delhi, the institute conducts examinations at 67 centres across the country.ICSI also has a Student Education Fund Trust which was started two years ago. Ravi said, “Through the fund, we help students from families with an annual income lower than Rs 1 lakh. We also give such scholarships to those students who score above 90 per cent in the higher secondary exams. These high scorers are also exempt from the foundation course.”
