As per the reports of Local18, the businesses are set up in the village of Lingala Gattu, Srisailam. The uniqueness of this place is that the entire menus here include varieties of fish dishes. Their menu includes fish biryani, fish soup and fish chutney.
The Srisailam region is experiencing high water levels, because of which a large number of fish are ending up on the shores. More reports state that between 5 kg to 30 kg of the seafood is being sold at the place. The village has become a popular spot among tourists visiting Srisailam Bhramarambika Mallikarjuna Swamy temple and the Srisailam dam. The visitors seem to be loving the savoury taste of the fish soup and the fish biryani.
According to Local18, for the last six decades, the citizens of Lingala Gattu village have been dependent on fish soup for livelihood. It states further that around 200 women are involved in the business. Interestingly, only women are expected to do business at the place while the men go out fishing. They reach Srisailam early in the morning and stay there till evening, sending their hunt to homes.
The women sell the fish and its various dishes like biryani, fish fry, and chutney at a low price. A kilogram of fish is sold for a price of Rs 150 and if you want it cooked, you can get it for Rs 300. The rates of the dishes depend on the kind of meal you want. The locals added that the Telangana visitors eat more fish than Andhra Pradesh tourists.
