Bhubaneswar: India is likely to carry out a test of its home-developed, nuclear-capable surface-to-surface Agni-I missile from a military base in Odisha on Wednesday, defence sources have said. The intermediate-range ballistic missile, which can strike a target 700 km away, is likely to be tested from a facility on Wheeler Island near Dhamra in Bhadrak district, sources said.

The test would be carried out by the Strategic Forces Command as part of a training exercise to ensure preparedness. Scientists from the Defence Research and Development Organisation, who developed the missile, will supervise the test.
