New Delhi: Indian and Chinese military delegations will be meeting in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
The two sides are expected to discuss border issues including the reported violation of the Line of Actual Control by Chinese troops last month.
The Indian Army has also been asking the Union Government to lift restrictions on border patrolling in certain areas along the border with China in view of the reported incursions.
Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal PV Naik recently admitted that India's aircraft strength was one third that of China, while Navy Chief Admiral Suresh Mehta said that Chinese military is far ahead of India.
The two countries fought a war in 1962 after China said it did not recognise the 3,500 km long border with India.
Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday, too, asserted that there was no question of India surrendering its sovereign rights over Arunachal Pradesh and other areas that China has been claiming as its territory.
"We have made it clear that there is no question of surrendering our sovereign rights over Arunachal. The question does not arise. There were 11 rounds of discussions (on the boundary question) in the last six to seven years. We consistently said that we cannot accept China's claim on Arunachal," Mukherjee was quoted as saying by PTI on Wednesday at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, October 1 is also the 60th anniversary of China turning People's Republic and the event was marked by Grand celebrations across the capital, Beijing.
A National Day reception was held at the city's Great Hall of the People where top brass of the Communist Party including President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao were present.
