Infosys techie falls to death, foul play alleged
Neelimas things were found strewn about, leading to doubt she had been chased

A woman employee of Infosys fell to death from the multi-level parking lot in the premises of the IT major in the city late Tuesday night. The family members alleged foul play even as the Cyberabad police said they are investigating the case to figure out if she was pushed or fell by accident.

What made the family of 27-year-old B Neelima suspicious was that they were not informed immediately about her death. “We were informed only around 3 a.m. Neelima was found lying in the parking lot around 10.30 p.m. and the  doctors at Apollo hospital declared her brought dead by 10.50 p.m,” the angry relatives of the young software engineer alleged.

According to police, Neelima was sent to US by her employers one-and-half years ago where she lived in New Jersey. She was married to Suresh, who runs a mobile store at Chandanagar. She had gone to the US alone and had returned to the city on leave on July 21.

Neelima left home around 7.30 p.m. Tuesday night and came to the Infosys campus at Gachibowli. Police said she did not meet anyone in the office but investigators came to know that she came to the office around 8.40 p.m. based on the CCTV footage. She was found moving around alone in the office premises and the parking lot, police said.

Around 9.30 p.m., Neelima sent a message to her husband saying she was going to her mother’s house in Kukkatpally and asking him to pick her up there on Wednesday morning.

But around 10.30 p.m, a security guard noticed Neelima lying in a pool of blood in the ground of the multi-level parking lot. She was shifted to the Apollo hospital immediately where the doctors declared her brought dead. Police suspect Neelima fell from the third floor of the lot.

“Neelima is not a coward to commit suicide. We suspect foul play behind the incident,” the family alleged, adding that Neelima’s handbag was found on the 10th floor while one of shoes was found on the 7th floor, raising suspicions that she was being chased before she fell to her death. Raidurgam police inspector A Bala Koti said they registered a case of suspicious death. The body was sent for postmortem.

Meanwhile, Infosys termed the incident as ‘unfortunate.’ “We are saddened by the unfortunate incident at our Hyderabad development center that resulted in the demise of our employee. All of us at Infosys offer our condolences to her family in their hour of grief. We are providing the family all necessary support. Infosys will co-operate with the police in their investigation,” a statement from the company added.
