KOZHIKODE: The IUML silence in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case has raised many eyebrows. Writer and critic M N Karassery stated it as the lethargy of IUML leadership. “Even CPM leader P Jayarajan has not rejected the presence of CPM men in the murder of Shukkoor. But IUML leaders have not raised the issue like the way it was done by Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala. “What League did was to collect a sum of money and hand it over to Shukoor’s family. Along with that, they should have pursued strong legal action and launched massive campaigns against political killings so that no more Shukkoor gets killed. I strongly feel it as the inefficiency of the League leadership, though the party boasts of five ministers and 20 MLAs,’’ Karassery said. However, IUML leaders, when contacted, denied the allegations and said that the party is actively organising campaigns against murder politics but they are hardly getting the attention of the media. “The party strongly opposes political killings and condemn the attempt of Pinarayi Vijayan to import Stalinism to the state, ‘’ IUML leader Panakad Syed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal has said. Former Minister and IUML secretary Kutty Ahamed Kutty also shared the same view but admitted that party workers allege an apathy in handling the Shukkoor murder case. “The party would take a more effective approach in the Shukkoor murder case. We would openly demand a CBI probe if police investigation is not going in the right direction,’’ he said.
