Mumbai: How would one appease the gods Bollywood style? Announce a devotional film with some known names in the industry, throw in some local politicians for the launch and simply pray for the best.
So after films like Jai Santoshi Maa, there's is another effort to cash in on divinity. And this time, it's Jackie Shroff doing a Sai Baba act in Malik Ek.
When asked why Jackie chose to do the role, he said, "I try my best in whatever it role play– whether it is a saint or a devil."
Co-actor Shakti Kapoor says, "He's like Jesus Christ. I call him Christ. Look at his hair, his eyes."
Jackie is currently in talks with Ekta Kapoor for a soap. And the lure of the soapsuds seems irresistible to the hero of many superhits in the 80s and early 90s.
"I want to be on TV. My mother would watch this. I want to see what she'd like to watch," Jackie says.
The shooting for the film, which has music by Anup Jalota, is expected to begin in the next few months.
But with such an unlikely star cast, it seems the filmmakers will definitely need some divine intervention.
