New Delhi: In the face off between the Judiciary and the CIC on whether SC judges should be declaring their assets or not the ice has been broken. Under intense public fire for their refusal to declare their assets, chief justice KG Balakrishnana has now climbed down.
This after a face-off between the judiciary and the CIC on whether SC judges should be declaring their assets.
He now states that he has no problems if judges individually decided to declare their assets.
A meeting of all the 24 SC judges will be called for soon to decide future course of action.
So far the chief justice has vehemently refused any moves from the CIC asking judges to be accountable on the grounds that Judges must be beyond suspicion.
But just a couple of days back eminent jurist Fali Nariman had refused to come to the aid of the judiciary in a case filed in the Delhi high court.
He too was of the view that Judges must be more accountable.
