Justice Sahai report gives clean chit to UP government on Muzaffarnagar riots
On Sunday, the one-man inquiry commission headed by Justice Vishnu Sahay tabled its report in the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly.

The Justice Sahai report on Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013 has given a clean chit to the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh.

The riot which left at least 60 people dead and thousand homeless became headache for the UP government.

On Sunday, the one-man inquiry commission headed by Justice Vishnu Sahay tabled its report in the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly.

The report held the then SP of Muzaffarnagar, Subhash Chandra Dubey and Inspector Pratap Singh responsible for the riots.

On BJP MLA Sangeet som, the report says that a case against him and 200 others is already under probe in connection with unloading a fake video on youtube related to the violence.

The report further said that there was a failure of local intelligence.

The commission was set up on September 9, 2013 to look into administrative loop holes in dealing with the violence in Muzaffarnagar and role played by media as well as politicians in flaring up the riots.

On September 24, 2013, the state government also formed a Special Investigating Team (SIT) to probe the incident. Total 567 cases related to the riots had been lodged so far.
