CHENNAI: The Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS) will conduct workshops on the safety of nuclear reactors, its Director K Ramamurthy said on Sunday, to help the common man appreciate the high standards of safety measures in place and dispel doubts.Speaking to reporters here on the sidelines of a seminar on the safety of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project, organised by the Chemical Industries Association, Ramamurthy said MAPS would educate people on the safety standards adopted in nuclear plants.“We plan to conduct workshops on the safety of nuclear reactors. We also intend taking those living near the plant to visit the Madras Atomic Power Station at Kalpakkam. It will help them understand the safety measures adopted by us,” he said.“We will extend the programme to other areas as well. We would also sensitise students from schools and colleges,” he said.
