On Oct 24 2011, the Lokayukta court had ordered a probe byLokyukta police into the complaint against Industries MinisterMurugesh Nirani and others, including Yeddyurappa, the thenChief Minister, alleging illegal denotification of governmentland for pecuniary gain. Admitting the complaint filed under the Prevention ofCorruption Act by city-based entrepreneur Alam Pasha,LokayuktaCourt judge Justice N K Sudhindra Rao directed Superintendentof Police, Lokayukta (Bangalore Urban) to investigate thecharges levelled in the complaint and report it. The complaint charged Nirani and eight others,includinghis family members, with "misusing his position as Industriesminister" and floating a number of non-existent companies andillegally denotifying Karnataka Industrial Area DevelopmentBoard land in Devanahalli and Dobbaspet to them for "pecuniarygain", causing over Rs 130 crore loss to the state exchequer. disposed of a criminal petition seeking anticipatory bail
