Thiruvananthapuram: Police probing the kidnap and assault of a prominent Kerala actress are investigating whether the prime accused in the case had taken objectionable photos of other actors as well.
The incident reportedly occurred last week when the actress was travelling from Thrissur to Ernakulam.
The phone of Sunil Kumar alias Pulsar Suni on which he allegedly took photos of the actress is yet to be recovered by the police.
Police sources told CNN News18 that police are looking into the angle that Kumar may have taken photographs of other actors as well but he has denied the accusation.
They also said that it doesn't appear to be a larger conspiracy behind the crime. Kumar along with another accused Martin planned the crime together.
Earlier, Kumar was arrested in dramatic fashion as he tried to surrender in a court on Thursday. He will be produced in court later on Friday.
Sources said a tempo-traveler rammed into the vehicle in which she travelling. When the driver of the actress’s car got down after the collision, two men entered the car and assaulted her and tried to click pictures. They then drove the actress towards Ernakulam for the next half an hour, sources said.
