KOZHIKODE: Reprimanding the leaders who made controversial public statements on the flex board issue in Kannur, KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala has said that the party had imposed a strict ban on public statements by leaders and party workers on organisational issues.Speaking to reporters here at a press conference on Thursday, Chennithala added that the party would take stringent action against those who violate the ban and the decision was taken after talks with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and UDF convener P P Thankachan. Supporting the stand of the chief minister on the Kannur issue, he said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would look into the incidents happened in Kannur and would take steps to resolve the issues in the party district unit.“Chief minister’s stand on the issue is 100 per cent right. But the police officials should behave politely to public activists as per the protocol norms,” said Chennithala. K Sudhakaran is an MP and KPCC general secretary and he should have been given the respect he deserves, he added.In reply to a question, he said that no disciplinary action would be taken on the open statements made by leaders till now on the Kannur issue.He termed the media reports on Vakkom Committee Report, which was formed to study the party’s poor performance in the last Assembly elections, as baseless and added that KPCC would implement the corrective measures recommended by the committee soon. “KPCC revamp is not a closed chapter and the reconstitution of office-bearers in KPCC and DCC would be completed. The process is going on and it has not been delayed,” added Chennithala.KPCC president said that the names for the posts of chairman and directors of Corporations and Boards allotted to Congress will be declared on February 4. “Though Congress has not been allotted adequate number of Corporations and Boards as it is the major constituent in the UDF, since party accepted it for maintaining the collective strength of the alliance,” he added.
