KOLLAM/KANNUR/KOTTAYAM: Three persons, including two from a family, were killed and six injured in an accident on the National Highway near Standard Junction, Chathannoor, Kollam.   The injured were admitted to a private medical college in Kollam. Four of them are in a serious condition. The accident occurred between Ithikkara bridge and Chathannoor junction around 6 am, when the  truck collided head on with the van. The family was returning from Thiruvananthapuram  after receiving Nasim who came from the Gulf.In another mishap on the National Highway, a youth was killed when his bike collided with a lorry at Parimanam, near Chavara, around 5.30 am. The deceased was identified as Renjith,21, of Renjith Bhavan, Sooranad North. Renjith, a plumber, is the son of Rajendran and Leela. Renjini is his sister.   In Punthalathazham, Abdul Azeez,55, of Kattavilathadavila Thekkethil, Kilikolloor,died when two bikes collided with each other. Three youths travelling  on one bike were  injured.  Abdul Azeez runs a timber mill at Kannanalloor.     In an accident at Kamkol near Payyanur (Kannur), three youths were killed when their motorbike collided with a car. Viipin K, 18, a native of Idukki, K V Subin, 19, of Kamkol, and Yeduraj, 18, of Pulingom, are the deceased.  Vipin was a hotel management student while Subin and Yeduraj were Plus-Two students.   The three were relatives who came to  Kamkol to attend a house-warming ceremony.  Their bike first hit a tipper lorry and then a car. The youths sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Payyanur Cooperative Hospital where they were pronounced dead.   The bodies were taken to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for postmortem.    In Kottayam, a woman pillion rider succumbed to head injuries after a fall from a motorbike. Nirmala Sebastian, 48, wife of Sebastian Joseph, Chamaparambil, Ponpuzha in Ithithanam near Changanassery, met with the accident on M C Road at Mandiram Junction near Chingavanam around 8.15 am.  She was returning from a church in Nagambadom along with a relative. The two- wheeler skidded and Nirmala fell to the ground.  She died at the Medical College Hospital. She was a staff member of St Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha. Her son Febson is an engineering student and daughter Ann Mary is a nursing student of St Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha.
