BANGALORE: After four days of continuous efforts, the forest officials, on Friday evening, finally succeeded in capturing the elephant which had trampled 38- year-old Mariappa to death at Gonipura, off Kanakapura Road a week ago. The elephant was found in Savanadurga Forest after the incident.Speaking to Express, B K Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden said, “Around 4.30 pm, we succeeded in capturing the elephant.” “Around 70 foresters from Ramanagaram, Bannerghatta and Bangalore Rural, four veterinary doctors, four trained elephants and six mahouts were involved.Venkatesh a temporary employee in the Department was called from Hassan” he added.Meanwhile, during the operation, the officials have spotted two more elephants.He said, “The captured elephant will be relocated either to Bannerghatta or Cauvery Forest. Further we will be capturing the two other elephants as well.”
