BELGAUM: Enraged over Mayor Manda Balekundri’s participation and speech during the black day that was observed by pro-Maharashtrian organisations, the activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) ransacked the office chambers of the Mayor and Dy Mayor Renu Killekar, in the administrative office of the city corporation here on Thursday.To protest the incident, the pro-Maharashtrian organisations - Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), Marathi Yuva Manch and Marathi Yuva Aghadi - had called to observe Belgaum Bundh on Friday. A Kannada outfit has organised a protest rally to the DC Office and will burn effigies of Mayor Manda and Deputy Mayor Renu at Rani Channamma circle.City bus services were stopped after pro-Maharashtrian miscreants pelted stones on two buses at Gandhi Nagar. Five youths who had covered their faces with masks pelted stones on Prakash theatre in Shahapur where Kannada movie Sarathi was being screened.The police arrested 50 activists of the Vedike who allegedly attacked personal secretary of the mayor.The activists of the vedike painted the name boards outside the residence of mayor and deputy mayor black in colour and later broke the glass wind shield of the doors, entered the chambers and ransacked the furniture including computers and LCD televisions.As the news spread, many Marathi corporators including the mayor and the deputy mayor rushed to the spot and agitated outside the premises of the office.
