Lalu to move SC on Gujarat HC order
Lalu rejects BJP's demand for his resignation in the wake of Gujarat HC quashing the setting up of Banerjee Committee.

New Delhi: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Sunday rejected BJP's demand for his resignation in the wake of Gujarat High court quashing the setting up of U C Banerjee Committee on Godhra train carnage.

"I will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Gujarat High Court order," he said after a party hosted by his bete noire Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

Lalu, however, said he is ready to put in his papers only if Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi does so. "Modi did not resign following Gujarat riots, why should I resign? If Modi resigns, I am also ready to resign on the issue," Lalu said.

The RJD chief said BJP has no moral right to demand his resignation as the Gujarat Chief Minister continued to be in power even after Gujarat riots.

The Gujarat High Court, on Friday, had quashed the appointement of Banerjee committee by the Railway Ministry to look into certain aspects of Godhra train carnage following which the BJP had demanded his resignation from the post.
