A goal three minutes into stoppage time spared the Netherlands blushes and kept their Olympic men's soccer hopes alive as they snatched a 2-2 draw with the United States on Sunday.
The United States had earlier taken control of the game with a two goal burst from Sasha Kljesten and Jozy Alatidore midway through the second half after the Dutch had taken a 15th minute lead through Ryan Babel.
But with only a few seconds remaining the US conceded a freekick and Gerald Sibon slammed the ball through the wall and past Brad Guzan to achieve a late escape.
Elsewhere the Ivory Coast defeated Serbia 4-2, Italy crushed South Korea 3-0 and Belgium ran out 2-0 winners over China.
