New Delhi: Left parties on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of any "broader understanding" with the suspended Congress leader and former Exernal Affairs Minister Natwar Singh saying that this would depend on his future course of action.

The leaders of the CPI (M) and CPI said Singh's suspension was essentially the internal matter of the Congress.

CPI Floor leader in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta said, "We don't foresee as yet any future understanding with him."

But the CPI(M) senior leader and party Deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Salim Mohammad said, "first let him decide what he does."

The CPI(M) leader said any future understanding would depend on "what future course he chooses, what he says and where he is going to align with." Rumours are doing the round that Natwar Singh might join the Samajwadi party.

The Congress on Tuesday night suspended Singh, indicted by the Pathak Inquiry Authority, from the party's primary membership for misusing his position to get Iraq Oil contracts.

Singh was the prime mover of a privilege notice against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Rajya Sabha for the leak of the Pathak report holding him directly responsible.
