KOZHIKODE: Months after the transfer of terror kingpin Thadiyantavide Nazeer from Viyyur Central Prison to the Poojappura Central Prison owing to security reasons, a letter admitting conspiracy to kill Nazeer in prison by a jail official is now circulating on Facebook.According to sources, this is a planned campaign aimed at gathering support of the youth for extremist activities through social networking sites. The letter, which had created headlines earlier, is posted on the wall of a Pfi Tanur Tnr’s Facebook account. The profile status reveals only vague information - the gender of the account holder is male and the employer is Socialwok. Pfi Tanur Tnr has 514 friends, 94 wall photos and eight profile photos -all on the activities of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India. The Facebook account holder lives in Tanur, Malappuram, according to profile information. The author of the letter is Vishnu Sreekumar, a convict in theft cases and he alleged in the letter that a jail warden asked him to take the life of Nazeer by giving him toxic substances like Potassium Cyanide. For this, the warden allegedly offered the prisoner release from his jail term. Sreekumar denied the offer and wrote this incident in letter seeking justice from the court.Earlier, there were media reports about this letter and jail authorities conducted a probe in this regard. Sources informed that the allegations raised in the letter were baseless and the said officer was totally innocent.“It is very clear that the publication of this letter on Facebook is part of a campaign in favour of extremists. “The inquiry conducted four months ago proved that the allegation raised in the letter against the jail warden was totally baseless.“The letter was written by some other person and Vishnu Sreekumar had norole in the creation of the letter,” said an official in Viyyur Central Jail. Nazeer was transferred from Viyyur Central Prison to Poojappura jail on June 24,2011.Earlier, Nazeer had filed a plea before Thrissur Magistrate Court stating that he received threats to his life at Viyyur Central Prison and his life was no longer safe there.
