New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday raided Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi's officews and residences across the country in connection with the alleged cases of corruption and irregularities in the Games.
CBI officials started the raid at around 7 AM at his offices and residences in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. Besides Kalmadi, the premises of his personal secretary Manoj Bhure in Pune were also being searched by the CBI.
Earlier, the CBI had raided some other senior Commonwealth Games officials. Key Commonwealth Games officials who have already been raided include
TS Darbari, Sanjay Mohindroo and M Jeyachandran.
List of Commonwealth Games officials under the scanner:
TS Darbari: Expelled joint director general, CWG Organising Committee. He has been arrested for involvement in AM Cars scam.
Sanjay Mohindroo: Expelled joint director general, CWG Organising Committee. He has been arrested for involvement in AM Cars scam
M Jeyachandran: Joint Treasurer, Organising Committee. Arrested for involvement in AM Cars scam
Sangeeta Welinkar: Personal friend and key aide of Suresh Kalmadi. He has been raided by the CBI.
VK Verma: Joint director general, CWG Organising Committee. He has been raided by CBI for alleged involvement in timekeeping equipment scam.
Lalit Bhanot: Secretary General, CWG Organising Committee. He has been raided by CBI for alleged involvement in timekeeping equipment scam.
