BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police raided the houses and offices of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda’s son HD Balakrishne Gowda and his relatives on Thursday and seized substantial evidence and documents in a case referred by the Lokayukta Court.Four teams lead by four Deputy Superintendents of Police rank officials, including Abdul Ahad, Girish and others, started simultaneous searches from morning to evening.While one team searched Balakrishne Gowda’s Padmanabhanagar house, another raided the Jnanaprakasaha School run by him and his wife Kavitha at Kanakapura.Another team raided Kavitha’s sister Savitha’s house at Vijayanagar. They also searched the office of Balakrishne Gowda’s auditor in Sheshadripuram.Meanwhile, another team raided the house of Gowda’s relative in Mysore. Sources said the seized documents relate to transactions worth crores conducted by Balakrishne Gowda when he was a KAS officer and those related to his business after he took VRS.“Once we correlate these to the case, the truth can be unearthed,” the sources added.The Lokayukta Special Court had admitted the case against Balakrishne Gowda on September 21 and ordered the Lokayukta police to investigate it under Section 156 of CrPC.S N Balakrishna, a retired engineer with Bhadravathi Iron Ore Company, had filed a petition before the Lokayukta Special Court against Balakrishne Gowda, alleging that Gowda had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income when he was a KAS officer.He had alleged that Balakrishne Gowda had assets worth Rs 70 crore though his annual income was only Rs 10 lakh before his retirement and were presently worth Rs 500 crore.Balakrishne Gowda had taken voluntary retirement in 2005.
