Mumbai: Four policemen have been injured after violence was reported in Dhule district of Maharashtra over a post on social media website Facebook. Police have taken 25 people into custody after a mob pelted stones at state transport buses.
Police said the situation was now under control.
The incident took place in Devpur area after the derogatory posts surfaced on Facebook and messages were circulated through Whatsapp.
Earlier this month, a 24-year-old IT professional at Hadapsar in Pune was allegedly beaten to death after violence erupted following inflammatory photos of Shivaji and late Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray on social media site Facebook.
Hindu Rashtra Sena chief Dhananjay Desai was named as an accused in connection with the mob violence and murder of the techie.
