CHENNAI: An auto driver has been arrested for allegedly trying to force his estranged wife into prostitution.The arrest came after Aishwarya (32) of Shenoy Nagar, who works as domestic help, approached the assistant commissioner of Kilpauk, saying her husband Thamizharasan (34), an auto driver from whom she was separated, recently came home on the pretext of seeing their two kids and tried to force her into prostitution. Police sources said Aishwarya had lodged a similar complaint at the all-woman police station at Kilpauk about three years ago. Thamizharasan was warned to stay away from her house and the couple was living separately. Two days ago, the auto driver went to his wife’s house and demanded her jewellery as well as tried to lure her into prostitution to make money. On the directive of ACP (Kilpauk), Aishwarya filed a complaint with the Chetpet police. Prabhakaran was arrested under Section 4 of TN Women Harassment (Prevention) Act and remanded to judicial custody. Based on the complaint, Prabhakaran was arrested.
