Man murdered by ex-wifes kin

HYDERABAD: A 30-yearold person was waylaid and murdered by his ex-wife’s relatives at Lakdi-ka-pul on Sunday morning. The accused persons slit the throat of the victim and later reportedly walked into nearby Saifabad police station and surrendered. The killing took place near the state intelligence office and a stone’s throw away from the DGP’s office. The deceased, Ijaz (30) was a resident of Toli Chowki and works as an air-conditioner mechanic in a hotel at Lakdi-ka-pul. Ijaz was married to a woman, Vazeera three years back and her family resides at Karwan in the Old City. Differences cropped up between the couple and they got divorced a few months back. According to police, Vazeera was brought up by her uncle Naseer Baig since childhood and Naseer Baig himself performed the marriage. Before divorce, community elders had a meeting with both families and it was decided that Ijaz return all the money and valuables given to him as dowry. Ijaz reportedly gave away the valuables including gold ornaments but failed to return the Rs. 1.65 lakh cash he took as dowry. Recently, Naseer Baig came to know that Ijaz’s marriage was fixed with another woman and they even got engaged a couple of days back. Naseer Baig decided to eliminate Ijaz and took help of three others. Police said Naseer Baig and his associates came near Lakdi-kapul bus stand and waited for Ijaz to come out. Ijaz attended night duty and came out of the hotel around 7 a.m on Sunday.As soon as Ijaz crossed the road to take a bus to reach his house, Naseer Baig and his associates attacked him and slit his throat leading to his instant death.After killing Ijaz, Naseer Baig and his associates reportedly walked to Saifabad police station and surrendered. Saifabad police are investigating the case.
