HYDERABAD: A day after Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav's niece Mayuri died under suspicious circumstances, forensic experts of the Osmania General Hospital who conducted post-mortem said prima facie, it was a case of suicide.Mayuri allegedly committed suicide due to harassment for additional dowry from her husband Arjun and his family members. Forensic experts said burn injuries were found on her body from face till her hip. However, there were no injuries on her leg. “Mayuri suffered 70 to 80 per cent burn injuries. Most injuries figured between head and hip,” said a doctor who conducted the post-mortem.Madhapur assistant commissioner of police K Govardhan Reddy told Express that Arjun and his family had been harassing Mayuri for additional dowry. “They were mainly demanding her to transfer some properties in her name. On several occasions, Mayuri was ill-treated for various reasons. So, these reasons could have made her to commit suicide. But we are still not sure whether it was a case of suicide which will be revealed in the final post-mortem report, expected to come on Tuesday,” Govardhan Reddy said.Hours before committing suicide, Mayuri had called her father and expressed her resentment for getting her married to Arjun.“Mayuri made a last call to her father and expressed unhappiness that her life was spoiled,” Raidurgam inspector Ravi Chandan Reddy said. But according to police, it was Arjun's reluctance to join Mayuri for attending her sister's function at Doodh Bowli which sparked her anger.“Arjun said he will not come to the function and asked her to take his mother along with her. An angry Mayuri then picked up an argument. When the car driver came to pick them, Mayuri cancelled the plan to attend the function,” the inspector added. It was around 5.30 p.m on Sunday when she reportedly set herself ablaze.Ever since Mayuri's suspected suicide came to light, Arjun and his family members are at large. Cyberabad police are in the lookout to nab them. Police said cases were registered against Arjun and his family members under 304B (dowry death).Meanwhile, family members of Anjan Kumar Yadav allegedly attacked media personnel when they went to cover the incident on Sunday night and Monday morning.
