Meat thrown into temple, residents enraged

KOLAR: Tension gripped in Kolar as some miscreants have thrown beef within the compound wall of Sree Anjaneya Swamy Temple at Ammavarpet on Wednesday.Angered over the incidents, the Pro-Hindu organisation called for an instant bandh Traders downed their shutters, all vehicular movement in Kolar has halted, all government and private schools and colleges were shut for a day, government offices,  cinema theatres were also found closed.   The Pro-Hindu organisation including Bajrang Dal took out a procession in the main streets. The chaos led the police to resort to lathi charge to disperse the mob.Stone pelting in the area injured one district armed force police person. As the tension gripped, the district administration immediately issued prohibitory orders, additional forces has been deployed in sensitive places to avoid any untoward incidents. Central Range Inspector General of Police Malini Krishna Murthy rushed to the spot and visited the Sree Anjaneya Swamy Temple. She said some miscreants have done this only to disturb peace and harmony in the town.
