New Delhi: Home Ministry sources on Saturday denied any threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from right wing extremist groups. According to intelligence agencies there are no such threat alerts from these groups, sources said.
Delhi Police had added a new threat perception angle while preparing documents for Modi's security arrangements for International Yoga Day.
The blue book prepared for the Prime Minister's International Yoga Day programme mentions that he may face threats from right wing fundamentalist elements due to his attempts to woo Muslims.
Intelligence Bureau had issued an alert in the national capital before the International Yoga Day. The IB had told the authorities of a possible use of flying objects like balloons, kites for attack during the Yoga Day celebrations at Rajpath.
Following the alert issued by intelligence agencies, Delhi Police had banned flying of kites, balloons, glider, micro light objects during the programme to ward off any aerial threat. Also, flying drones for aerial photography was also banned.
Around 5,000 armed security personnel including Delhi policemen were deployed to secure the yoga venue.
Modi also faces threat from terror groups like Lashkar-e-Toiba, Indian Mujahideen and Hizbul Mujahideen.
