THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Transport Minister V S Sivakumar has said that the demand of college teachers for raising retirement age is just but it should be done after arriving at a consensus. He was inaugurating the valedictory function of the Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association’s (KPCTA) state conference held here the other day. The conference also passed resolutions demanding more courses and colleges in the aided sector. The association also urged the State Government to restrict the ratio between language teachers and students to 1:30. The association’s demands include rectifying anomalies regarding increment of teachers who hold M Phil and PhD, upgrading the service-payment norms of ayurveda-homeopathy doctors to that of allopathy practitioners, opening of DD office in Kannur, hike in salaries of guest teachers, reinstating inter university transfer ordinance, resolve ongoing strike at Kalady Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, reinstating study centres instituted in the name of cultural leaders and inter-religious centre at Kalady Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University etc. The function was presided over by KPCTA state president M C Dileep Kumar. NGO Association general secretary K V Murali,UDF district chairman K Mohan Kumar and Nedumbana Anil were present.
