London: Women are hailing a caffeine-based eye serum as a magic bullet to banish crow's feet, dark circles and puffy bags.
One such product, which comes as a metal roller ball used under the eyes, is so popular that it has a UK waiting list of more than 4,000 people.
Having featured on US chat show 'The Tyra Banks Show', the First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller caused a stampede online and sold out on the Boots website within two hours, the Daily Mail reports.
Celebrity make-up artist Jorjee Douglas said she regularly uses the detox roller on actress Jennifer Aniston. She said, "I love that it contains caffeine - it makes the circles just fade away."
Beauty experts have noticed a surge in eye-soother products. Alice Hart-Davis, beauty writer and creator of Good Things Beauty skin care brand, said, "These roller balls are really popular at the moment."
"The formulation contains caffeine, which has the effect of stimulating blood circulation. What this will do is speed up the flow of blood in the micro-capillaries around the eye, which may make the skin in this area look a bit fresher and brighter. Roller-ball products feel lovely and soothing," adds Hart-Davis.
Other key ingredients include witchhazel, to tone and smooth skin, and menthyl lactate gives a slight tingling sensation and a bit of a zing.
Audrey Thompson, a 39-year-old personal assistant from Surrey, tried the product for lines and dark circles around her eyes which she believed were so bad she needed surgery.
She said she experienced an 'instant' lifting effect, and a month later friends were commenting on the change. She said, "I was amazed. Everyone said how much younger and more awake I looked. It's been the only thing that's worked for me."
