Criticising Narendra Modi for not acknowledging his marital status for so long, senior Congress leader Rajeev Shukla, on Friday, said it is a matter related to the honour of a woman for which the BJP's prime ministerial candidate owes an explanation to the country, especially women.
"This is a matter related to the honour of a woman. After all why did he (Modi) avoid disclosing his marital status for so long. This is a question gnawing upon the mind of every woman in this country and Modi must explain," Shukla who is in charge of the party's affairs in Uttarakhand told reporters.
Shukla said that the response to public meetings held by him were an indication that the party was going to win all five Lok Sabha seats in the state.
"The public meetings received an overwhelming response from the people which indicates we are going to win all five seats," he said.
Showering praise on the UPA, he said its ten-year tenure at the Centre was exemplary for the scores of schemes it launched for public welfare and historic legislations it brought in to combat corruption including NREGA, Indira Awas Yojana, Right to Information, Right to Education and Lokpal.
When asked why the Congress-led government at the Centre had failed to control rising prices, Shukla said the battle to bring down the prices was still on but the UPA cannot be held responsible for price rise as it was determined by international market conditions.
