Moral police attack claims life of youth

KOZHIKODE: In a shocking incident of ‘moral policing’, a youth, brutally manhandled by locals at Mukkam in the district on Wednesday, died at a private hospital here on Sunday.Shaheed alias Bava, 26, from Kodiyathoor, was manhandled as locals objected to an ‘immoral connection’ he had in the area, police said. Police said the victim’s uncle had filed a complaint alleging that Shaheed had been involved in a fracas over a minor car accident in the area two days before the incident and that locals had manhandled him as an act of revenge. Kozhikode Rural SP Neeraj Kumar Gupta said that a case had been registered and one person has been arrested.
